Ash (Hive Trilogy #1) by Jaymin Eve and Leia Stone

Are you an Ash?

*Increased stamina
*Lack of appetite
*Anger outbursts
*Insatiable thirst
*Beauty & Strength
*Male

Call the hotline if these symptoms come on suddenly!

Turns out Charlie Bennet was all of those things except the last. Don’t let the name fool you, Charlie was all woman and she wanted nothing to do with the ash … until the day she found out she was one.

It all started when infected bats bit a small group of humans and created what are now called vampires. Then, the male vampires knocked up some female humans and the result was a gorgeous race of all male ash. Superhuman freaks that had looks to kill.

Charlie is the first female ash, aka unicorn of the Hive – the gated compound in Portland that the humans have designated to isolate vampires and ash from society.

Problem? The Hive is full and only a select few will be allowed to live there. To live at all, really. If Charlie wants to earn the right to become a citizen of the Hive, she will have to survive the culling – a series of fights to the death. And guess what? Just because she’s a girl doesn’t mean she’ll get special treatment.

Good thing there’s Ryder, the mysterious lead ash enforcer, who seems to always have her back. But when secrets bubble to the surface, it will take more than one guy to save her.

I legit couldn’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve read a vampire book. IT’S BEEN AGES. I remember when I was in 7th grade and I legit only read vampire books. I think I read about a hundred vampire books back to back I didn’t want to read anything else but vampire books. To be honest that’s probably why I took a really long break from reading vampire books I probably wore myself out that year. Continue reading

I really really wanted to love this book. I mean it has a 4.18 rating on Goodreads and the majority of the reviews I read for this book were really good, so of course my expectations for this book were high. I just couldn’t connect with this book at all. It was like I was drifting off throughout the book and just couldn’t focus on what was even going on.  Continue reading

I read this book very quickly. There’s only 161 pages so it’s pretty short but it’s packed full. This book, albeit short, had a great plot line, interesting characters and had some unexpected twists and turns. Continue reading

Even though I wasn’t in love with this book I did enjoy it. This is one of those books that you can’t necessarily put your finger on why you didn’t love it because there was nothing that stood out that was horrible.  Continue reading

My Little Obsession With Laurann Dohner’s Books

I have been on a Laurann Dohner binge. I’m not even kidding you guys. I’m sure it’s not healthy to binge this many books by one author in such a short amount of time. I’ve just been reading one book after another so fast that I don’t even have time to write about how amazing they are. I just rush to get my hands on the next book in the series because I already know I’m going to love it.

****

Honestly disappointed in this book. When it started out I was really excited. I loved the premise that there was a surplus of women on Earth due to a illness that targeted men. I thought that was so unique especially since usually books like these are about alien planets that have more males than females. The character intrigued me at first I thought she was cool and didn’t have any major problems with her. That is until her betrayal. I’m not going to go too much into it since I don’t want to ruin it for anyone who is hoping to read this story but I just can’t get over it.  Continue reading
