Sacked (book 1 of Gridiron) by Jen Frederick

What he wants he gets…

Knox Masters is a quarterback’s worst nightmare. Warrior. Champion. And…virgin. Knox knows what he wants–and he gets it. All American Football player? Check. NFL pros scouting him? Check. Now, he’s set his sight on two things. The national title. And Ellie Campbell. Sure, she’s the sister of his fellow teammate, but that’s not going to stop him. Especially not when he’s convinced Ellie is the one.

…but he’s never met her before.

But Ellie isn’t as sure. She’s trying to start a new life and she’s not interested in a relationship…with anyone. Beside it’s not just her cardinal rule of never dating her brother’s teammates that keeps her away, but Ellie has a dark secret that would jeopardize everything Knox is pursuing.

Knox has no intention of losing. Ellie has no intention of giving in.

So basically I stayed up until 4am on a week night trying to finish this entire book. I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN I’M NOT KIDDING IT’S THAT GOOD!

I picked up this book thinking it was gonna be a filler book. Something to pass the time until I find a book that I know I’ll for sure love. WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW I END UP LOVING THIS ONE!
This book is sexy, funny, cute and makes my heart flutter! I loved everything about it. Sure, in some parts it wasn’t the most realistic but it was still awfully cute and just makes you want to swoon. The characters are soooooooo cute and not to mention that the main sexy beast in this book (Knox) has an identical twin! I haven’t read what the second book in this series is about just yet but it better be about Ty!!!

I’ve never read anything from this author before so I’m so excited to read more of her work and hopefully this series! I highly suggest you read this book if you love football players, shredded guys, a definite page turner, funny characters and some steamy scenes.

“We don’t get to pick the family we’re born into,” he says into the quiet night. “But we do get to choose the family we live with. I choose you. You’re all that I’ll ever want.”

KAGE Trilogy by Maris Black

My name is Jamie Atwood, and I’m an addict. I never thought I’d say such a thing. Never had a problem being overly-attached to anything in my life. I came from a perfectly middle-class family, made good grades, and had a hot cheerleader girlfriend… but the truth is, nothing ever really moved me. So how did a guy like me become an addict?

I met Michael Kage.

Kage is an MMA fighter. A famous one. I like to think I helped him get that way.

He’s charming as hell, with looks to rival any movie star and talent to back it up. So why did he need to hire me as an intern Publicist? Simple. He has a darkness in him– like a black hole so deep it could swallow him, and me, and everyone we know– and that’s not good for business.

The first time I met him, I felt the pull. I think the addiction began at that very moment. And even if I’d known then what I know now, I would have fallen for him. How could I not?

For me, Kage is everything.

Okay I’m officially in love! I couldn’t write my thoughts down until I finished all three books. Literally once I finished one book I immediately picked up the next one and finished all three books in 2 days. These books are page turners and I couldn’t put them down until I finished all three books! Thank god all three were already published because I don’t know what I would’ve done if one wasn’t published yet.

I loved the two main characters. Both were amazing and I couldn’t help but fall in love with the two of them. Their love story was so cute! There were a few bumps in this story but nothing major where I was like “Oh shoot how is this going to work out in the end”. During the time I was reading the book that didn’t bother me but now looking back I wish there were a lot more “OMG!” moments but I don’t mind since it wasn’t a main worry when I was actually reading the stories.

Also, I loved how there was an actual story here. It wasn’t all about sex, yes there’s sex in it, but it didn’t revolve around sex. I feel like whenever I read a MM fiction novel it’s like 90% sex and there’s not much to the actual love story. However, this one was different! I think that’s why I was so in love with this because the author gave me characters and a story to love.

I really hope there’s more from this author that I can dive into because this was such a great read and I get obsessed with books that I can’t put down. I feel like that’s when you know you’re reading something good if it can capture your attention that much.

Clipped By Love (Bellevue Bullies book 2) by Toni Aleo

This has been the toughest year of my life. I watched my brother go into the draft without me, my mom got divorced, and the weight of my family’s issues is heavy on my shoulders. I feel like it’s my job to fix everything while working my butt off in school and trying to make my game better. I have to go into the draft. It will give my family the support they need, and it will prove that I’m good enough. But to get there, I have to show I can be the best captain for the Bellevue Bullies. The spot is mine—no one can take it. First though, Jude is making me go on a brother’s weekend. Innocent enough, I guess…until I see her. She’s the biggest competitor I’ve ever faced. Not only for my spot but also my heart. It’s hard to ignore someone like Baylor Moore.

I don’t lose. I can’t. My dad has bred me to be the best in anything I do. I am driven, I am smart, and I am going to be the first woman in the National Hockey League. No two ways about it. I’ve worked too hard. I’ve been through too much not to have what I want. I know I can do it. I will make my dad proud, and no one will stand in the way of that. That is, until I let him in. He scares me. He makes me feel. And he could very well be the one person who can make me want more than just to win.

We both have the same goal. Victory. But how do you compete against the person you want to win? It’s not easy. Love isn’t something you can control. It isn’t like a puck that can be handled by a stick. No, it has a mind of its own and does what it wants.

Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

“I read once that a strong man can handle a strong woman, but a weak man will say she has an attitude.”

“Girls love me. I’m funny, I’m hot, and I’m very charming. I’m also very hard to resist. But this girl, man, she is fighting me tooth and fucking nail!”

Just got done reading this book and WOAH. Okay so I was kind of expecting a similar-ish story like the first book in this series but nope definitely not the same. It was actually the opposite of the first book and I’m still debating in my head if I liked that or not. Whereas in the first book it was instant attraction on both parts and it wasn’t long until they were together, in this book it was like a constant fight between the two of them (mostly just on Baylor’s part).

Which brings me to the characters. Baylor, first off, kind of annoyed me to be honest. I understood why she was so hesitant when it came to everything related to Jayden but at the same time I wanted to smack her because like JUST WHY!? If Jayden was messing up and there was something going on that actually made her hesitant then okay sure but she was just too scared and too stubborn and it lasted the entire book.

On the other hand, I loved Jayden. He was perfect. I’m serious…just pure perfection. I honestly can’t say one thing that I would change about him. Basically he just needs to leave Baylor, become a real life person and then marry me.

Overall, I really did like this book except for Baylor’s stubbornness I just couldn’t with her at times. I love this author and I love this series. If you could overlook the flaws in Baylor’s personality like Jayden did then you’re in for an amazing read (:

Boarded by Love (Bellevue Bullies book 1) by Toni Aleo

Jude Sinclair here, hockey player for the Bellevue Bullies and lover of all ladies. Hockey’s in my blood, and not to sound full of myself, but I’m good at it…really good. The draft is within my reach—it’s mine to take—but that’s not the only reason people know my name. They know me because of my way with women. They know the score, and I aim to please. I just tend to stay away from repeat performances. In other words, I don’t do relationships beyond my family and friends. I’m happy with life. However, I should warn you that my story and how I see it playing out is about to change due to a certain redhead on campus.
She’s beautiful. Stunning. Breathtaking.
She’s my game changer.
He’s trouble from the moment I see him. I don’t know what I’m thinking, but from the moment I meet his gaze, I’m his. It’s a scary feeling.
I’ve never trusted anyone outside my aunt and uncle—and even that took months. I didn’t have it easy growing up. My mom was usually strung out, and she didn’t give me a second thought. Drugs and the men who paid her were more important to her. It was horrible, but I’m stronger today. Because of my past, security is what I need most. Money assures me that I can take care of myself today, tomorrow, and next month. I don’t want to ever be hungry or go without again, so I work hard for every penny.
Oh, by the way, I’m Claire Anderson. I’m a hard-studying sophomore at the University of Bellevue, dancer for the school dance team, and a burlesque dancer at a club, but that’s my secret.
You may think you know how our story ends, but you have no clue. It’s not easy falling in love… or living happily ever after. At first it may seem so, but when is anything worth having ever won without a fight?
Especially when you’re boarded by love.

I couldn’t put this book down at all! It made me swoon, smile like an idiot, laugh and want to cry in some parts! Toni Aleo really hit it out of the park and since this is the first book I’ve read of this author I’m even more happy to find another amazing writer!

I love stories when the guy knows he’s met his match and can tell that this girl is a game changer and that is exactly what Claire was for Jude. Jude was sweet, sometimes a little corny with his facebook posts, and sexy as hell! *Swoon* my love for hockey players won’t ever end it seems!

My favorite character out of everyone would really have to be Claire. I loved her personality and she didn’t let her past bring her down, but strengthen her and empowered her to do better in life. It was beautiful. I also loved her confidence, especially coming from a childhood like she did her confidence never once wavered and it was admirable. I love reading books with characters that just make me almost look up to them and make me want to be confident too.

The overall story was amazing as well. I loved how even with the amazing nonchalant scenes there was still that air of anticipation from me. I was just waiting for something to happen which is great because it leaves the reader turning the next page just craving for what’s to happen next.

Only one thing I’d like to change!! The cover. It’s very misleading on what Jude looks like. He’s a hockey player so he’s huge and muscular and just overall the cover isn’t accurate on how he is described in the book and it’s kind of a pet peeve of mine. But other than that I loved this book!

Oh & one more thing I think it’s funny that if they get married her name would be changed to Claire Sinclair!!

*Side note: I know this isn’t the format and criteria I usually do with my little rambles but since I’m a pre-med student and school has started up again I decided that even though I’m not doing all the things I used to do at least I’m still writing and reading even if it takes me awhile to post. Hope everyone is doing well! (:

Love, Liv

Playing to Win by Jaci Burton (Play by Play #4)

This book is cute, but not unusual from the other books in this series. I strongly suggest reading these books in between other books and not to read them all in order like I was trying to do. I only suggest this because they are all similar in the “someone comes and meets the main character and then they fall in love”. Which is really the main storyline in most romance novels but after reading 4 of these storylines back to back it kind of gets old especially since there’s not a lot of problems that arise within the story and I love stories that take me on a rollercoaster. Not that these books aren’t good but they’re all standalone and don’t necessarily need to be read in order. I call series like these “fillers” something to fill the time in between other series or if you need to fill the urge of reading a cute simple romance novel. This wasn’t to discourage anyone from reading this series in one go, because you definitely can just giving a little heads up!

Killian (On The Line #1) by Brenda Rothert

Killian Bosch knows he’s his own worst enemy – he just doesn’t give a damn. The star forward of a minor league hockey team, he’s unstoppable on the ice. His reckless behavior, devil-may-care attitude and complete disregard for consequences have made him a major source of headaches for the Fenway Flyers’ brass.

But the new Flyers owner is more steel than brass. Sidney Stahl is a disciplined woman who parlayed earnings from a college job into a real estate empire. She’s determined to transform the Flyers from marketing nightmare to hockey powerhouse. Once she gets Killian in line, she knows the rest of the team will follow his lead.

The seduction of his sexy new team owner is a challenge too forbidden for Killian to resist. Sidney plays into his attraction as a means of controlling him, but soon finds that she’s the one surrendering. It’s all on the line as Killian and Sidney are forced to choose – business or pleasure?

It’s been forever since I’ve read a hockey book! I’ve read more hockey books than any other sport romance book. something about hot hockey players pull at my heart strings the most!

I really liked this book, I wish there were more obstacles in their relationship but at the same time it was nice and beautiful that everything worked out.
This is one of those romance novels that I envy! I want their relationship! Their love was so fiery hot & passionate!!

The Deal by Elle Kennedy

I loved this book! It was so great! Definietly one of my favorites. I loved not only the characters but the plot as well. The characters weren’t frustrating or super stubborn like most characters. You know how most characters try so hard to fight the attraction towards someone and you sit there like “why?!?” I was so happy I didn’t have to feel like that In this story.

I feel like this book was super realistic which made it really enjoyable.
