Kiss of Fire (book 1 of Imdalind) by Rebecca Ethington

Joclyn Despain has been marred by a brand on her skin. She doesn’t know why the mark appeared on her neck, but she doesn’t want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her. The scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won’t let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.

The scar is the reason she is being hunted.

If only she knew that she was.

If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her. Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; only he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

OMG OMG OMG! Okay so I can’t even remember the last time I read a paranormal YA book which is so sad because that’s the genre that made me fall in love with reading in the first place and I read it for years and years. I think because I got older reading from the point of view of someone younger than me just didn’t have an appeal but when I was looking for a book to read I just threw my hands in the air and said “what the heck why not?”.

I came across this book because I read so many amazing reviews from book bloggers that I adore and follow. So in my head if all of these people loved this book I would most likely love it too, right? HELL YEAH I LOVED IT!

This author just brings you into this world and makes you feel apart of it and you can’t help but instantly connect and sympathize with the characters.

I loved how original the storyline is. I feel like with a lot of books lately it’s hard to not find something similar that I haven’t already read before but this one was fresh and new and you can’t help but quickly read through the pages to figure out what the hell is going to happen.

I really liked Joclyn because she was a perfect mixture of a strong female heroine and a scared teenager. Which is definitely understandable once you start reading all the shit that goes down in this book. TRUST ME YOU WON’T FEEL BORED BECAUSE A LOT OF SHIT HAPPENS!

Uhm, can we all just sit and cry just a bit that we all don’t have a Ryland in our life? He’s absolutely precious and I want to take him home. Right now. See this is my problem with YA books, I’m so used to my other books where we get some sexy scenes with these hot main characters! Gotta remember, Olivia they gotta keep it PG calm down.

I have no clue what to say because I really don’t want to ruin anything. I love going into books not knowing what the hell is about to happen because then everything is just a surprise and then theres always twists and turns and it’s just more fun.

If you love an amazing romance, cool weird names, cool words you can’t possibly pronounce but probably sound badass, paranormal stuff happening, moments that make you want to scream and cry and just throw your book across the room and then quickly run and pick it up again to continue reading what the hell just happened then this is the book for you!!!! Please do me a favor and read this book so we can all hold our breath together because I already know this series is going to be amazing!

This book was definitely something new for me. I don’t think I have ever read a book like it. It was interesting and even though at times I wanted to just give up on this book I couldn’t because I wanted to see what happened and how this author would resolve everything.

I liked Micah and Chris but that’s just it. I wasn’t in love with these characters like I usually am when I read and I’m not quite sure what was missing. At some parts in this book I was really confused with what was happening. The transitions for the scenes where they would just be sitting down casually and then something out of nowhere happens were a bit choppy. I would have to reread the scene a couple times to realize “Okay wait something major just happened, what the heck is going on”.

Another problem I had with the book was that the end seemed to kind of drag on. Once everything seemed to be resolved and everything was good, the book just kept going. Usually with couples I love that wouldn’t be a problem because I would love to just soak up the remaining time I have with the couple and the story but for this one it was just like “Come on already!” (Also a minor problem I had was that Chris was apparently this beautiful man yet whenever they described him…..well it was just interesting to say the least. It’s like when they were describing him they forgot to remember that he was suppose to be this beautiful man.)

The storyline however, was really good! The plot and everything that happened and the little twists and turns at the end were good. You know when you read a book and you just feel like you’re in that world living through everything they are? I love those books! But this book I just felt like a bystander. I couldn’t fully connect with this book and with some people that’s not a problem but for me I really like to feel a connection with the book and the characters.

For me this book fell a little bit short, but hopefully if any one of you decide to read this book you love it! Maybe I’ll read more from this author and see what else they can come up with.

After a tragic health event that leaves him vulnerable in life, he realizes that business will not bring him the happiness he needs, and he’ll do anything to find that happiness.

Greyson starts to question everything, including Silver’s advances. When Danger is lurking around every corner, no one is safe. Can attraction be fatal, or will attraction be the saving grace Greyson needs? Will Silver’s secrets ruin them or will someone else have the first shot?

Love is blinding, but suspicion is the real killer.

I have such a headache from reading this book!! But it’s not from what you’re probably thinking. I refused to put this book down! I was starring at my iPhone (because I was reading the book off of iBooks) for so long I got a headache! But that did NOT stop me! I continued reading because I loved this couple so much.

When I first started reading this book, I have to say I was so confused. At first they called each other Mr. Silver and Mr. Black but then they would address Mr. Black as Grey and I was just sitting there so confused! I never read the summary of books I kind of just grab them and let them surprise me so I had no idea what their first names were but I was sitting there and said to myself “Grey Black? No I must’ve read something wrong” But no his name is really Grey Black. It’s really Greyson Black (which sounds way better) but I just thought that either the author didn’t think that one through all the way or they just really like their colors.

Other than that confusing moment I loved everyone, even the secondary characters. Due to the fact that I had no clue what this book was about at all everything was such a surprise and the author did it so beautifully! I couldn’t put the book down I just had to find out what was going to happen next! I’m telling you guys this book was so intriguing and such a page turner.

Overall, I loved this book! Silver and Grey were so cute and charming you couldn’t help but fall in love with the two. This book had it’s twists and turns and at some points you didn’t know who to trust which made the book even better because it was so suspenseful and gave this book something more than just an ordinary love story.

“How do you have such self-control?” I grin sitting next to him on the couch. He utters words that make my heart melt. “Because you’re worth the wait.”

*Swooooooon!*

Deep (Stage Dive book 4) by Kylie Scott

Positive. With two little lines on a pregnancy test, everything in Lizzy Rollins’ ordinary life is about to change forever. And all because of one big mistake in Vegas with Ben Nicholson, the irresistibly sexy bass player for Stage Dive. So what if Ben’s the only man she’s ever met who can make her feel completely safe, cherished, and out of control with desire at the same time? Lizzy knows the gorgeous rock star isn’t looking for anything more permanent than a good time, no matter how much she wishes differently.

Ben knows Lizzy is off limits. Completely and utterly. She’s his best friend’s little sister now, and no matter how hot the chemistry is between them, no matter how sweet and sexy she is, he’s not going to go there. But when Ben is forced to keep the one girl he’s always had a weakness for out of trouble in Sin City, he quickly learns that what happens in Vegas, doesn’t always stay there. Now he and Lizzie are connected in the deepest way possible… but will it lead to a connection of the heart?

Overall Thoughts:
Yes! Yes! Yes! YES! Kylie Scott read my mind and created this book especially for me, I’ve decided! The entire series I had this one plot in my head of how I wanted everything to go down and KYLIE SCOTT PULLED THROUGH PEOPLE! I literally was jumping up and down when I read the first couple of pages. I honestly couldn’t contain my happiness.

Concerns:
I had some concerns with this book that stressed me out. I’m serious about the stressing out part. I would have to take a few breathers and believe that in the end it’d all work out but Ben was just super frustrating! It was hard to trust him throughout the novel, which Kylie Scott purposely made so to make the story realistic and more emotional which is great but in the end I didn’t root for him 100% like I did for the other guys.

Praise:
Like I rambled in the first section I was so happy with the storyline! I knew this was going to happen and I’m so happy it did. I also had a love/hate relationship with how the beginning of the novel started off. It served it’s purpose and honestly was the best approach but Kylie Scott just gave us this big surprise and once all hell broke loose she did the “Four Months Earlier” and that’s when I internally screamed “Nooooooo!” But like I said before I held on because I had faith that Kylie Scott would pull through and make this an amazing story and she did! She gave you people to love, people to hate, stress that I’m sure will make me break out soon and laughter. I’m honestly so sad that this series has come to an end, I wouldn’t mind if Kylie Scott threw in some more band members to keep the series going! I really wish I could join Stage Dive’s family because the men and women in this series have been amazing and I’m so glad I enjoyed these books so much!

Who I Imagined:
I feel like everyone imagined different men for Ben than me but whenever I hear beard and men built like a mountain I will forever think of my love, Joe Manganiello.

And then I imagine Lizzy to look like the beautiful Lindsay Ellingson

Favorite Quotes:
I’d never needed to know that my sister was a screamer. Never. That Mal was a screamer too just kind of confused me.”

“No way. I still get these horrible flashbacks of that night and wake up crying, terrified that some sexed-up howler monkey is going to attack me.”

Overall Thoughts:

Kylie Scott made me fall in love with her! I was already obsessed when I read the first two books in this series but I’m pretty sure this novel made me addicted. I can’t get enough! Kylie switched it up on this novel and made Lead have a realistic feel to it and took you on a ride full of love, humor, frustration and heartache.

Concerns:
I didn’t really have any concerns with this book because the things that made me frustrated and made me think “WHY WHY WHY WOULD YOU DO  THIS!?” I still loved.

Praise:

This book had me guessing the entire time on what would happen. I appreciated that Kylie Scott didn’t make these two characters fall in love with each other right off the bat like she did in the other two books in the series. It made this love more realistic and I appreciated a different love story other than the “love at first sight”. It was a great mix up for the series so not every book would be the same. It just makes you all the more anxious to read her next book to see what new love story she will throw at you because not one love story in this series is the same!

At first Jimmy can not stand Lena and it threw me for a loop because if you read the first two novels in this series the men instantly fall in love with the girl and it’s usually the man slowly convincing the woman to take a chance on them. BUT NOT WITH THIS ONE FOLKS! Kylie Scott mixed it up and gave us something new to delve into with this one. I honestly didn’t think the two of them were gonna fall in love. This one had me guessing, I thought well maybe Lena will fall in love with someone else and it’s going to be a story about her and some other guy? I don’t know I just know that this story brought a more realistic feel because you’re so unsure of how the outcome will be, just like in real life.

I love how Jimmy is an asshole. I know I know, that’s horrible because I’m suppose to be on Lena’s side and hate Jimmy for it but I can’t! I love it because it goes along with the realistic feel of the story. He had emotion and was moody and it was great! I love how well Kylie Scott constructs her characters and how you can really see the progression of character development in her stories.

Who I Imagined:
I took these images from Kris and Vik Book Therapy Cafe’s review on Goodreads because they are literally so perfect. I’m not sure who the people are on these pictures but they perfectly portray Lena and Jimmy. Especially since most people portrayed Lena as super skinny or fit and if you read the descriptions she makes about herself you know that that’s not true.

Favorite Quotes:

“I think I’m going to start charging you extra for lies. Someone needs to pay for the stain on my soul.”
-Lena
***
“If she means something to you, you gotta do the woo, son. You can’t just be trying to stick it in.”
-Mal
***
“There were knives on a rack on the kitchen wall, many shiny bright knives all in a row. It would be so easy just to throw the odd one at him and see what I could hit.”
-Lena

Did you like Jimmy’s asshole personality as much as me?

Play (Stage Dive book 2) by Kylie Scott

Summary of Play:

Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.

Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

Overall Thoughts:

I’m so happy to have read this book! I finished it in a couple of hours because I couldn’t put it down!
Mal and Anne were perfect for each other! They really did complete one another!

Concerns:

At first it was hard to keep up with Mal. I swear this guy had ADHD. Kylie Scott did a magnificent job at keeping up with his wild and hilarious personality throughout the entire book, but like I said it was at first hard to keep up because he was everywhere but Anne was always patient and never got annoyed with him. Also, how the book ended. It seemed very abrupt but the epilogue really did tie everything together and tied all of the loose ends but when I turned the page and saw epilogue I did have a mini freak out. But no worries because like I said, Kylie clears everything up in the epilogue and doesn’t leave us hanging!

Praise:

I loved their personalities. Sure like I said above it was hard to stay on the same wave length as Mal but you get use to it very quickly. One thing I love about the women Kylie Scott writes about, is that they all have a backbone. They stand up for themselves and the ones they care about! They’re kickass! This book had me on an emotional rollercoaster, and I will admit that I got teary eyed in certain situations. Not only did Kylie Scott play with my emotions with this novel but she had me cracking up as well! Some of the things Mal said were hilarious! If you read my previous review for the first novel in the series, one of my problems was that I felt like I didn’t know how truly David looked, like his body, but I definitely knew how Mal looked in this novel! Kylie Scott didn’t disappoint ladies!

Who I Imagined:
 Mal – Chris Brown
Anne – Suki Waterhouse

Favorite Quotes:

“We’ve broken my bed,” I said, stating the obvious.
“In battle, sacrifices must be made, pumpkin.”

***

“What do I taste like?”
“Well, like honey and cream and … I dunno, bread?”
I scrunched up my nose. “Bread?”
“Yes. Sexy bread that I could eat all the time because you are so delicious and full of wholegrain goodness.”
***

“Seriously, honey,” I said. “Your manners are appalling. Go fuck yourself.”

Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

What do you get when you have an immortal Viking warrior no one can remember five minutes after he leaves their presence, and a demon on the run for her life who is being pursued by one seriously pissed-off demigod?

That would be my life.

It started out simple enough. One night I went to save a woman in trouble. The next thing I knew, the doorway to hell had opened and out stepped Daimons- soul-sucking vampires the likes of which I’d never seen before. Led by the son of Apollo, they are out to end the curse that has banished them all to darkness. The only problem with that is they have to kill Cassandra Peters to do it and if she dies, so dies the sun, the earth and all who dwell here. Life’s just a bowl full of cherries, ain’t it?

Brought together by fate, it’s now my job to protect a daughter of the very race I have been hunting for centuries. Neither of us dares to trust the other. But if we don’t find a way to overcome our differences and to bridge thousands of years of animosity, we won’t die alone. We’ll take the entire world with us.

I don’t even read the summaries anymore when it comes to this series. It doesn’t matter who the main characters are or what the plot is even about because I know that the book will be amazing and blow my mind. AND I WAS RIGHT! Sherrilyn didn’t disappoint me with this one!

However if you did read the summary did it not just make you run to buy this book!? A Dark Hunter and an Apollite???? Oh lordy, Sherrilyn you are really testing the boundaries here! In this novel you are brought into the Apollite world more and you get to understand their lives and their struggles and it’s heart wrenching!!

So I’m probably the worst employee ever because during my 8 hour shift behind a desk today I spent the majority of my time sneakily reading this book. People, when I say I’m addicted, I AM ADDICTED! The only hard part about reading at work was holding back the tears! There were multiple times where all I wanted to do was bawl! Cassandra Peters is an Apollite, and like all Apollite’s she too is curse to die at the young age of 27 which is only a few months away. So now you see why this was so emotional! Not even just that there’s other obstacles and problems that arise that make the story more interesting and captivating!

Wulf…my lord. I feel like all of the Dark-Hunters are like my little babies. I just want to hold them and never let go and even though I love these main female characters I get a lil jealous. Where are men like these in the real world!? Where are the Powered Donuts in the world!? (if you’ve read this book you will totally know what I’m talking about and are probably nodding your head in agreement right now! lol)

I don’t know how many times I can state how much I love this book and series until all these ramblings form into one big rambling where they all basically say the same thing over and over again.
I wish everyone could read these books and fall in love with the world that Sherrilyn has beautifully created. I’ve never been so happy to see so many books in a series before. I never want them to end. Ever!!!

Love,
Liv
